Hello All, I have found this site to be extremely useful so far...what a vast array of information. Thanks to the operators and regulars that keep it running. I have been looking for something like this and am very excited to use it. I have a fair, but limited knowledge of computers....know much more hardware and electrical theory than software and want to learn more about software, web development, programming and the like. first time poster here. I've been to this site on several occasions and it is a tremendous help.

Hi everyone, I am fairly new as a member, but have been lurking for sometime. I stumbled onto this forum when I was looking online for help with my computer. I love hanging out with a bunch of computer geeks! Don't take that the wrong way, I used to be one in my former life (when I worked full time for a paycheck, now I stay home with my son and my paycheck is hugs and kisses) and I am still considered the "geek" and goto person among my family and friends. Unfortunately for me and them, I am not up on technology the way I used to be when I went to the office to work every day. I found this site to be very helpful, not only with my problems, but with all the tutorials out there to help me catch up on things I need to learn. I can see there is a lot to learn and a lot of great people to learn from and work with out here.

So hi there and I look forward to spending lots of time reading and making posts when the baby is napping.

One question: I am looking to buy a new laptop and want to get some opinions on the 2 models I have it narrowed down to. Where can I post that?

Oh yeah, and I love the selection of smileys on this forum! I have to use a bunch just because they are way cool!

Just had to add in there that the cool smiley is very cool, the spidey is for my son who loves his toy spidey phone, the grad is because I am a recent college grad, the guitar because my husband plays and the rest just because they made me smile

I'm also a newbie---just joined yesterday---but I gotta tell ya, this place has already helped me to remove the Vundo Trojan from my computer by my simply strolling around the boards... I'm really impressed with the helpfulness of the staff of this site. The way you help the somewhat less knowledgeable of us without 'talking down' is a trait I figured was completely missing from the Internet...and it's pretty refreshing to see. THANK YOU very much!

I also have come here to rid my computer of the W32.Trats!inf virus, which from what I'm reading here is quite a bit more complicated a procedure than the Vundo Trojan was. My computer has some other 'issues' as well, but the Trats virus is the worst of it. Caught the stupid thing a couple days before Christmas, and it's been driving me NUTS ever since.

Looks like I've found not only a place to help me straighten my computer up, but to learn something about it in the process.

The say to teach is to learn twice, so I've come to reinforce my own knowledge as well as fill in the gaps that I know exist (and probably a few others ). Where should I go to a)start helping people with minor problems, b)find out how to install/configure php and apache to work on my computer so I can build and test a website before going live?

Hi all,

After hours and hours of searching for virus solution. I came across this site, it's great and very helpful.
My home computer is running on Vista and needless to say I've read more negatives than positives 'bout this OS *sigh*
what even more eye opening is the virus I'm trying to remove off my Vista comp ( Hair pulling problem.)
One thing for sure, I'll be getting familiar with this forum.

I'm Myriad and I'm new here this evening, I had bleeping computer reccommended to me by a friend, via another friend because I've got a problem that I need to sort out quickly. I'm worried that it's affecting all my contacts...........and I really don't wanna lose my friends
I've only been using the internet this last year so I'm hoping that everything here, can be basic enough for me to understand.

Hello one and all and thank you for creating such a helpful site. I came to computers at the ripe old age of 50 and have been gaining as much knowledge and experience as my poor peabrain can comprehend ever since. I am always amazed at how much more there is to learn.

Thank you very much for your help in fixing some probems on my computer. It took me a long time reading and rereading instructions but it was worth it. (whew!) Now I'm just following another instruction to post and introduce myself after registering.

I'm glad that I looked around at more of BleepingComputer. There really is a lot here - which the rest of you already know... Previously I had only gotten here as a link from a search to a specific problem, and then finding what I needed, I went to deal with it. Thanks for being a good resource!
