Hello everyone.

I found this board through Google.com in a search to remove the Vundo trogan from my computer and hopefully to remove Pipas.A from my father's. He seems to have a really nasty one from what I've read elsewhere.

Hi all. I found this site while searching for an issue caused by my HP printer's software.

The name alone is enough to keep me coming back to this forum. :-)

Hi All,

I've come to this great forum to get some help with some malware that hijacks my internet connection about 5 minutes after I reboot my computer. Right now I'm using my "old 500 mhz Windows 98" computer, which works fine with my cable modem. My next step is to get back on my 2.5 ghz Windows XP computer that has the malware and go through the thorough complete steps on the "Preparation Guide for use before posting a hijackthis log." I'll have more to report then. Thanks again for a really helpful site. thumbup.gif

Hello everybody. My name is Randy and I am here searching for some techno-wisdom on how to solve my problems with malware mad.gif or any other "nastyware" sad.gif that I seem to be inadvertently popping into my PC. I hope I learn some things here. Cheers.

Many years. I bought the first IBM compatible PC. Continued with the upgrades as they became available. My present computer is a Dell Dimension 4300 and is coming 5 years old---time to upgrade?
-David-
Hey and welcome to the site Cesar, Gordon, Danielminahan, Randy, Tomingrove! smile.gif
Tom - I see you are being helped with a HJT log, please ask that question there.
Darkeminence
I have my experience with computers simply because the Bastard Operator from Hell destined me to a life of begging. I have had three virii attacks (including Blaster Worm with Dial-up, my computer would be 99% downloaded before the computer would restart...). I am versed in Hijack This, and I run several noteworthy programs of stellar defence.

Thank you very much for being available! After two different software purchases that did not do the job, Your instructions on how to remove VirusBurst off of my PC worked EXCELLENT!!!

Thank you very much!!!

As a newbie here, I thought the best place to start would be by saying howdy and introducing myself to the Bleeping Computer Community.

My display name is my real first name and it's pronounced just like Kim. I currently reside in nd.us with my two furry children =^..^= Mithril & MIPs and spend most of my days reading, working, or screwing up my computer. whistling.gif

I'm not a native to North Dakota. When asked how I came to live here, I either plead short term insanity or the 5th. Having been raised in the south, North Dakota winters are a bit chilly for my liking. cold.gif From October to May I never can seem to get warm.

I'm also a sucker for scenery; something North Dakota has very little of. Don't get me wrong! North Dakota is beautiful in it's own special way! The BadLands out near Medora is some of the most amazing country I've ever seen! There is also a unique beauty that is soul stirring when you look out over mile after mile of open prairie. It only takes a small breath of wind to turn that endless sea of grass into a vast ocean of waves and ripples. North Dakota is very different from anywhere else I've ever lived and although it has it's own beauty, I long for densely forested mountains and clear running streams.

If I had the resources to make a move, my first choices would be to move to the Netherlands to be close to a very dear friend of mine. However, this would be a very expensive move as well as complicated beyond belief! However, there are a few other amazingly beautiful places I wouldn't mind living such as Western Montana, North Western Oregon (mountains to my east, lush vegetation everywhere, and a beautiful ocean to my west = paradise) , or even Alaska! I've also considered a move to British Columbia, but I'm not so sure I want to change my citizenship as well as my scenery!

Ok - on to the computer part of me...

I've been using computers on a daily basis since 1984. I started out using them purely for word processing and data entry, but in 1995 someone introduced me to HTML and I've been hooked ever since! Although I've been using computers for a while now, I'm very new to the Windows OS. The company I contract for isn't Mac compatible, so after 21 years as a Mac user I had to make the switch. unsure.gif

I miss Cubie sad.gif (my Apple G4 Cube), but he has a new owner and a good home.

Windows is a scary and often frustrating OS for me. If it can be broken, I can break it! I think I spend more time reinstalling WinXP than I do actually using it! ranting2.gif

But thank goodness I wandered in here! I've been reading through many of the posts and I think these forums are going to help me out a great deal. thumbup2.gif Thanks to Merjin for adding Bleeping Computer to his list of help forums! clapping.gif I hope I don't get in trouble for saying this, but his Hijack This program has saved my bacon more times than I can count!

Thanks for providing these forums! Heaven knows I need the help! wink.gif

Hi, all...
I'm new to all this and I'm still feeling my way around. Sorry for the late self- introduction.
I found this site while looking for something on Cobian.
A friend asked me to back up a LOT of data, and I'd just been doing it with Nero on my own computer.
but this was (her) company customer database, and she had lost two of her trusted associates who left to set up their own competitive business....with HER customer database!!! When she found out, she was LIVID! She obviously was TOO trusting!
Well, to cut a long story short, I went in with Ghost 10 and not knowing anything about corporate backup, I just ghosted each of the computers on external Lacie Big Disk 500. Now restoring was not at all easy, and you know the rest, I guess.
Then I scoured the 'net in the past month finding ways to back up regularly, and I found a good simple tutorial on Cobian by "Your Highness"...
The past few weeks has been a crash course in backing up, and I have a LOT more respect for those who DO it! Of course, EVERYONE does it differently, and I found out in the Cobian Backup FORUM! (just read it!)

I'm in Hong Kong. Portuguese by birth, 56 years old. I used to work for a local TV station, as Soundman and later as Cameraman. Never touched Editing, though, willing to learn the hard way! I just started my own Video Editing Business, and that's ANOTHER long topic...I just built three machines from the bottom-up just trying to learn Video Editing!
1. Asus P5GDC-V DELUXE mobo, P4 Intel 3.4 GHZ cpu, 2GigDDR2-667, Matrox RTX.100, Nv 5750 display.
Lots of initial problems with audio, render speed, sudden lock-ups, self-reboots, you name-its! :<
Finally found the problem was insufficient power! I was driving 5 hard disks, four of which were 250gigs!
silly me. I now use 650W Coolermasters. But this mobo only does Standard Def. video and not HD...SOooo.
2. Asus P5B mobo, Core2 duo 6600, 2GigDDR-800 Canopus NX for HD, X600XT display, above hard disks.
this will edit, but will not Capture HD from HD-SDI....I found out too late.....SOoooo....
3. Asus P5B-E mobo, Core2 Duo 6600, 2GigDDR2-800, AJA XENA LHe card, EAX1600 disp, 4xSeagate 500Gig in Raid-0....Let's see what this 'mother will do in the coming weeks... used all the leaves in my tree so far to get here.
Sorry about the long post... just typing my thoughts. Please edit if necessary, thanks.:>

Hello all. I am an up and coming computer tech that stumbled across this excellent site a few months ago, and because of it , I am the "hero" tech at work. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You......

I really wish there was a way for me to learn more about how viruses are written so as to combat them more efficiently. Any advice?

Anyway, thanks again and keep up the good work!!

I have installed some hardware on my rig. Upgraded OS on mine and several other machines. What i would really like to do is get good enough at this to build from the ground up. OH! i would also like to learn to trouble shoot with some degree of confidence

I wish to be frank. sad.gif I visited one of the sex site, though I am aged 60 ,once I entered the site I lost my brain and clicked ok to some plug-in offer.in order to view a video tongue.gif .Just that,i was caught.intially there was some virus page popping up and asked me to go in to some site to clear the virus in my computer,as it told that my p.c is infected.i searched frantically w00t.gif .i asked a question in yahoo answers, which introduced me to a saving angel named dell tech.i am not well versed in computer operations.i just do mailings, chat with my daughter at oman.i visited your esteemed site as the address was given by my saving angel.I was at first having a lot of fear that my approach might again lead to some danger wacko.gif .i am having snaps of my grand sons whom I love more than anything in my life.I cant allow anything to happen even to those snaps, which I have made a collection from their birth.{twins } now they are aged 6.So, i felt trying might be ok.i was given a task that has to be carried out to get rid of spydawn.i read more than 15 -20 times before i ventured.i don't know anything and never done anything like this before.the steps to be done were so simple.yet i do not know certain things like closing of open programs, residing icon like wise.somehow, things worked well and at the end, i was desperately searching for the bleeping icon,i felt it might have hidden some where and would come latter w00t.gif .thank God ,bleeping computer.com and my angel, dell tech whistling.gif .i will never visit any rubbish sites.I repent it as a sin.I am surprised to note that there are terrorists even here to spoil the wonder world of computers mad.gif .sorry for taking most of your precious time.you might have used it to research some weapon to kill some computer terrorists.God be with you thumbup2.gif .I am arranging for donation to be paid to this noble cause.bye thumbup.gif clapping.gif .

Hi my name is Cindy and I wish to say hello! I'm extremely grateful to finding this site! I had spent 3 days trying to get rid of the "spydawn" file on my computer with no success. I used the instructions and file to remove it last night- SUCCESS! I'm not an IT person nor a programmer so this was a little "interesting" to try to say the least but glad I did.
I live in the Boston area and will make an effort to drop by and say hello again.
BleepingComputer.com is now in my favorites!!! Thanks again!

I Found this site thru pure luck. Earlier this morning while surfing, I made a silly mistake and ended up with the virus for the SpyDawn popups. By Googling Spydawn, I found BleepingComputer as one of the first links with a fix. The SmitFraud application worked great with the step-by-step instructions. Figured I would join this site to see what other helpful info I could find.

Hey there! I got here through Google trying to solve a problem with a spyware. I used to use Major Geeks, but they've gotten kind of uppity lately and assume everyone is a(n) IT type person. For the rest of us I'm glad I found this site! Will be using this more often.
