My Bleeping Experience.
It goes back to the CPM days then Dos, while I was in High School. I use to program a little in Assembly, Basic, Pascal... Later I got into Programming in Visual Basic, and C++..

I have a A+, M.C.S.E. CNE, Dell, and HP certified. Also have a Red Hat certification.
I have been a message board Moderator for the Wired Radio Show like this board to help others with Computing Issues.

I now also been Adobe Certified in Photoshop. While I am not a N.A.P.P. member I hope soon to be.

I am getting out of the I.T. area since the field is getting too dead and little to no work. So I am getting into Graphics with Photoshop and G.I.M.P. and Microsoft's new Expression Graphic Designer March 2006 CTP.
Also have used some other Graphics programs such as Paint.net.

I also have a little experience on some Apple Hardware and Operating systems from O.S. 7.0 - 10.4
I do want a Mac Mini, or a dual G4 to use with Photoshop... Till then I have aniquatied Wall Street Laptop running Yellow Dog Linux, and a Dual 694 E Mac Clone.

SC..

what is CPM?
"CP/M is an operating system originally created for Intel 8080/85 and Zilog Z80 based microcomputers by Gary Kildall of Digital Research, Inc.. Initially confined to single tasking on 8-bit processors and no more than 64 kilobytes of memory, later versions of CP/M added multi-user variations, and were migrated to 16-bit processors."

I'm new today to bleepingcomputer.com, but i just wanted to give you all a great big THANKS! I was infected yesterday with some slimey spyware from ANTIVIRUSGOLD ( I really hate spyware that is trying to sell you spyware). However, I logged in to your site, followed all ot the directions, including downloading SmitFraudFix.zip, and got rid of the *#@%^*#! Thanks to all who have a role in this site. Ben

Hi I'm hoping that by using this, I'll become more efficient in computer use.. I always thought I was fairly experienced with Windows 95,98, NT and, XP, but when I came across Vista, I hit a roadblock. A big one. I've always been able to assist people with earlier versions and a bit of DOS here and there. But if someone could help with Vista, I'd be grateful. JIMDET

I just wanted to thank the "Staff"/admin (or whichever title is preferred), and in particular Grinler for all of the help they unknowingly provided to me. I've lurked and browsed every time I've had an issue for the last year or so and have almost always been able to resolve it.

After a recent meltdown of crap, I have formatted, and decided to take system protection a bit more seriously.

I think it's incredible the things you do, and it should be applauded. Thank you all very kindly.

Hi there,

Me and my family have just shifted to Pakistan for a couple of years.
I've got 10 yrs experience in the electronics industry (embedded software, FPGA's, digital design) but my new role is IT at a small school with 50 PC's and a bad internet connection.
So most of the time I'm in over my head and could use a little help.
petemcd

Hi everybody, I was looking up information on how to get rid of Antispynet.com Hijacker and I came upon this site. There was a forum with a person going through the same problems that I had and he was being helped by one of the experts. I also happened to follow the same instructions that he was given in order to fix the problem and it worked! So I quickly decided to become a member should any other problems arise in the future. I am forever thankful.

Hello Scarlet - I'm new to this site , and spent some time looking at the problems related to some I solved myself for my XP/SP2/Dell system. I appreciate all the links to ERUNT, etc., and I'll probably get to read all the tutorials.

I built my first analog computers in 1961, out of cardboard discs and old clockworks, to compute the best combinations of expensive biochemical reagents for enzyme research. After that, it was onto Olivetti and Wang punch cards, PDP's and nixie tubes, Altairs and DOS...but it's vastly more complicated with each Windows iteration.

Regardless of all the prior experience, I'm NO expert at the SP2 level. Many times, 'automatic' updates from MS or McAfee have caused me problems similar to many posted here ... both companies, and probably Norton, too, seem to overide the -'notify, but allow me to choose when" to install upgrades/updates. I constantly have to reset the preference the way I want it ... and not for the convenience of the auto update software writer.

I'm nearing 70, and being retired, have time to look at the MS details regarding the updates, e.g., about the IE7 beta (!Do not update XP, if IE7 beta 1 (or 2) is installed!) 'Course it doesn't help if MS does an auto update!

Thanks again for your hospitality.
Scarlett

Hello,
I recently found this site in a Google search.

I'm an American living in China now, and I have been proud of my "clean" computer for the past few years. I have and use Spybot S&D, Ad-Aware, and AVG Anti-Virus paid version.

My Chinese friend has been using my computer some, and I have just let her use my login, an admin. Yeah, it was a mistake, and I should have known better. When I was out, she had her son install QQ instant messaging, complete with viruses and spyware.

Well, this is just an intro, so I won't go into details, but soon I'll be posting a message elsewhere with my spyware logs, hoping to get some expert assistance. I've started working through the HijackThis tutorial. When the spyware and anti-virus programs can't get rid of stuff, I'm lost, so I hope to learn how to deal with this!

And of course, I should have known to do this before, but now I will make a safe guest login that has virtually no privileges, and I'll keep the admin account passwords to myself!

Thanks!

Hello Everyone,

I was browsing Google to find ways of removing some nasty malwares and came across this great site. Not only did you save me time in getting rid of malware, but I learned a lot just looking at some other forums. Nice work guys! Keep it up!

Tried to check out use of the Startup Programs Database, but found dead link to Autoruns, the program that finds start-up programs.

I sure am happy to have found this forum. I was redirected by a Microsoft community that I visited in search of an answer to my issue at hand. So happy in being here among friends and BCForum addicts(I believe I have become a BCForum addict too). I enjoy computer, art history, gardening, travel, bicycling, and helping other(and being helped). BCForum is a great resource with great people and friends, and fun. MGBY.

Last night, I noticed the "Posts in This Topic" after the initial post, thought it was cool thumbup2.gif ,
but some of the posts (seemed to be the newer posts on topics with multiple pages) brought back an error. sad.gif

Ya'll are GREAT!, BTW... thumbup.gif

Killmypc: I thought it was cool as my persona " BCForum addict" had overpowered me. I came to my senses and thought it would be best to post the pre-edit-original post to a more appropriate forum(since I am just a rooky, it would be in my interest to not to post my problem in this forum), and stick to proper guideline of BCForum. Regard. MGBY. wink.gif
-David-
Thanks for the words killmypc and MGBY.
I think you've joined the other "addicts" on the forum now!
MGBY
Dose this mean I have attained BCForum addict status worthy of respect? From your words of wisdom, are you recognizing I am officially being indoctrinated as a "Forum Addict" ? Now forgive me, since I am a rooky "Forum Addict", I am not up to speed yet on all thats expected of me- may I quiz you on a bit of an item I had difficulty in locating in the Forum Manuel? Are there any amenities or rewards that comes with that honorable attainment of "BCForum Addict" that I should know??? Thank you kindly for the honor. I hope I am worthy of it. Regard. MGBY. dance.gif I made it!!
