I have a wierd problem with my laptop, I am running a Toshiba laptop and Motorola SBG900 wireless SURFboard Gateway and a home built desktop. The home built I have connected directly to the Motorola and the Toshiba is running wirelessly about 6ft. away from the gateway. Now the problem, 5 to 6 times a day the Toshiba will lose the signal, when you go to the wireless network connection page it will not show any available and no matter how many time's you click search it will not find anything and yes on the gateway the little yellow light that show's that it is transmitting is on. Any idea's

Good morning,
I know that with Toshiba laptops (I have one myself), if there is interferance (e.g. microwaves in use, radio is on, etc.), one looses the wireless signal. Try moving your laptop closer to the router and trying there.
Good luck,

well it's hard to get it closer than the 5-6 feet that it's at now and if it loses the signal at 5 ft from a microwave at 70 ft. well that's pretty bad.

I presume that the home built system doesn't lose the connection? Then it's most likely a malfunction in the wireless card on the Toshiba or on the wireless portion of the router/modem.
Test it with another wireless laptop or by taking the Toshiba to another wireless network.
