The following is from my teatimer log:

4/24/2007 8:28:16 AM Denied value "{CAFEEFAC-0016-0000-0001-ABCDEFFEDCBA}" (new data: "") added in ActiveX Distribution Unit!

I did not intend to deny this registry value....The dialog window showed two buttons (presumably "Allow" and "Deny"), but the words on the buttons were overwritten with other window text. I guessed at which button was which--and lost.

I found CAFEEFAC-0016-0000-0001-ABCDEFFEDCBA in the registry, but I am afraid to touch it. I want to make sure that the new Java update I just installed works properly. What should I do?

If you have already disallowed a change and "told" TeaTimer to remember it then you can reverse that and start over.
To remove the instructions previously saved right click on the TeaTimer icon in the system tray (lower right hand corner next to the system time) and select Settings from the popup list. You can then select among allowed and blocked processes and registry entries.
Once you have located the blocked entry you wish to reverse simply click on the "X" symbol to the right of it to remove it from the list.

Not being able to see the display box is a well known bug at the moment.
Don't worry about the buttons as you can simply press 'A' for Allow or 'D' for Deny right on the keyboard.

I had this problem a long time ago . Although they said the bug would be fixed in the next build, I used the fix and it worked fine. If your page looks like this, use the fix .
