I have a linksys bfsx41 router. Windows 2000 pro SP$ ROllup1 bls 2195.

I am using a program from aquila tech to turn the LAN cpus on and off.
I also use that same setup (Same router) at home.
All works well.

The program has the ability to turn cpus on and off via the internet as well,
there are times I am at home where it would be good to be able to retieve data from my office cpu.

The problem I am having is in configuring the router to pass the packet (UDP port 9) to the lan ring. I have forwarded UDP port 9 to the ip 192.168.2.255 (Lan Are Brodcast) but it does not work. I have tried port triggering also but it does not work.

The program activated teh CPUs based on the MAC address of each unit. And since the sytem works fine via lan I am sure the issue lies witht eh router not broadcasting through.

Can anyone help me please?

Why dont you create an RDP (Remote Desktop) connection, or even a small VPN?

how will that help me turn on the cpu when it is powered down?

RDP is not going to help in is situation. OK, you are you 100% positive that the correct ports are open for you to use between your office and home? And why would you want to use the boardcasting address? You should be using the address of the computer you want to use. If I have the wrong idea, please explain more.

The WAN address of the cpu is not available.
The only puplically viewed address is the router.
So I need to send it to the router, and have the router broadcast it to all the cpus on its internan lan.
That cpu should then regognize its MAC address and respons, the others should ignore it.
But it does not work!

Make sure the utility is using UDP port 9, as some wol utilities use different ports (i use mc-wol but it sends through port 65535). You might want to sniff out the wol packet to see which port is being used.
