I have a Acer Aspire 5051AWXMi got the extra 1gb of Ram to give me 1.5gb and now ready to upgrade to Windows Vista Home Premium. There was one thing i was wandering, atm my Acer laptop has a hard drive partition, i really dont see the point in this as there is only a few XP files in D:/ so i was wanting to remove this partition before, during or after partition. Is this possible? Is there actually any point to this partition?
Many Thanks

We've discussed that smaller, "D" partition before - it's the "restore" partition if you ever need to restore that PC back to the way it was - "factory fresh", so to speak.

They should have provided you with a way to make Restore CD's from that partition. Once you create these CD's, you really don't need that partition any more.

Is that an Acer Vista upgrade? Does it give you a few methods of installing, one of which will wipe everything and put a clean Vista installation on your HD? If so, that should create one large partition on your HD.

I'd make an image of that partition just in case. There are several free imaging utilities available on the web. Some should be listed here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic3616.html
