Anyone know any software that runs with Outlook 2003/2007 that will alert the user visually or with audio?
Some people miss that new e-mail notification window (thrown right in the center of the screen) in the days of Outlook 2000.
Or anyone know if Microsoft is planning on addressing this issue?

Outlook 2003 (not sure about 2007)
Under "Tools" - "Options" - "Preferences (Tab)" - "Email, Email Options" - then "Advanced Email Options" -
you should see items you can check for "When new items arrive in my inbox"
- Play a Sound
- briefly change the mouse cursor
- Show an envelope in the notification area
- Display a new mail desktop alert
In Control Panel - Sounds and audio devices, you can even change that sound that you get for New Mail.
Enjoy.

John, thanks for the information, but I believe that's only possible if the Outlook 2007 is running on POP3 and Exchange Server.
I have the Outlook running on IMAP (MAPI) on a third party e-mail server.

Hi gooky.
I would suggest
POP Peeper. Works with imap\webmail as well.
There is a button in the lower left corner to launch Outlook via it's interface should you choose to download the message.
