i read the tutorial on windows alternate data streams, and i want to try it out myslef. i made two files: test.txt and ads.exe i want to bind the ads.exe file to the test.txt file so ads.exe is invisible.. i went to command prompt (WinXP Home Edition) and typed "type c:\windows\notepad.exe > test.txt:ads.exe" no quotes. thats what the tutorial said to do (btw, i was on the c:\test directory that both files are located in) when i went to look for it in Explore, i still see both files there, can someone please tell me what im doing wrong and what i need to fix?

Is the hard drive that you are working with formatted as NTFS? If you go into my computer and right click on the C drive and go into properties you can see what filesystem it is.

Alternate Data Streams will only work with NTFS filesystems

Are you using the start command and full patch to the file?

What directory did you create the ads file in?
