I just recently bought this Dell for $5 at a garage sale, and when I was cleaning it up, I tried running MSCONFIG, and: "Cannot find the file MSCONFIG or one of it's components. Make sure the path and filename and that all required libraries are correct." How do I fix this problem? I need to remove some startup items that weren't viruses but are still annoying...
The computer is running 2000, and was part of a company network, so it may have some weird poicies on it...

More than likely, from what I read in your other post, the security settings were set to prevent non-Administrator access. Like I replied in the other topic the discussion can continue as long as it does not include defeating security features. If it does this Topic will be Closed.

I'm logged on as Administrator, and I own the computer.

msconfig is not an option in Windows 2000, please see this Link for several work arounds.

As mentioned MSCONFIG is not part of Win2k. I have just installed W2K on a PC and I downloaded the msconfig file and placed it in the system32 folder, it works a treat!
