i currently have Zone Alarm Security Suite 7 and i am unable to update my anti-spyware definitions. it will update the anti-virus, but not the anti-spyware. any suggestions?

I believe those two need to be updated seperately. In the antivirus/antispyware area, there should be an update button. Click that and let me know if that fixes your problem.
If I'm wrong on this, feel free to correct me.

Hi,
Sorry for the delayed response. Do you know how to go to the add/remove programs area? What I recommend is for you to scroll down till you see Zone Labs Security Suite, then tell me if there is a repair option for this program.

Attempts to use Add/Remove usually is the primary cause of subsequent troubles with any security suite. Zone Alarm included. There's a clean uninstall provided from start menu.
That said, on the Zone Labs forum is a fix - I haven't used it - but it is very simple - people need to delete just one file and then the spyware updates work.

Fixing failures with updates
As I understand it, most such troubles are due to corrupted files (due to windows errors)Here's the way that appears to have worked:
Find c:\windows\system32\Zonelabs\Updates
delete LocalCatalog.xml file, reboot, and try again.
If this fails, delete all files in this folder. Reboot.
