Two things.
1) Have you looked in the Event Viewer located in the Administrative Tools. They are under the Control Panel. Note errors marked with a red X.
2) Have you tried uninstalling and re-installing BitDefender?

Oh sorry for not posting in the right forum.
Acklan I tried reinstalling BitDefender and it didn't work. The event viewer has some really weird dates like 4/8/2036 or 1/5/1936. Ill see if it works in safe mode and if it works on other users. Maybe the BitDefender service stops?

no offense, but you wouldn't happen to have a real-time antivirus programme already installed, would you? bitdefender is very tempermental. great AV.

Why don't you use live support. It's support right over the net!

The support was no help. I think i'm going to throw away BitDefender and buy Zonealarm internet Security. I had Zonealarm Pro and it has never failed me.

Just one last question. Would you happen to be running two AV program at the same time?

10344,
i doubt that zone alarm will provide better antivirus protection that bitdefender. their antispyware may not be as good either, but i don't know the specifics. i don't know who produces the zone alarm AV and AVS.
if you already have an AV on your computer, sometimes they won't install. other times, if it does install, you will have big problems. once i accidentally had 2 real-time AV's running, and it took me 45 minutes to move the cursor across the screen to the start button. i was trying to avoid hard-killing the system. you probably don't have 2 AV's running, but we have to ask. it's the most obvious answer.

I only have BitDefender. I could make a HijackThis log if you want.

That would be advised. If you do, do not post it here. Post in the HJT forum.
