Individual members cannot disable or deactivate their accounts.
BC Admin and Global Moderators can suspend or disable a members account.
Only BC Admin can deactivate an account.

What sort of attachment are you looking to add, picture link etc?
when you click add reply the text box that you type in, has the ability to insert items into the post. just hover the mouse over each icon.
Hope this helps

No. That only inserts am image or a link. I was thinking in terms of attaching, for example a zipped file or such. (As is common on other sites)

The attachment feature is not available in all areas of the forums. It is disabled by admin for security purposes except in certain areas.

File Attachments can only be added in the HijackThis Logs and Analysis, and Staff forums, which aren't accessible to the regular membership.
As Pandy said, this is done for security reasons.
It would be too easy, for someone to attach an infected file, that could be downloaded, and executed, before it was caught by the staff.
The danger, far outweighs, the benefits.

I don't believe you can, mmax.
I think either the Mods or Admins can, though.

I just subscribed, so your procedures are all new to me.
I'm trying to just say hello, but it appears that I need to "reply" rather than initiate a new message (thread?).
Anyway, the name is Dan, and I'll be explaining my problem elsewhere.

Well, i'm not a new user as you know, but I didn't know where else to pose this question.
When I come to this site I see my name+password are already on the page. All I have to do is click on log in.
In light of the fact that I recently had to take my CPU in for a diag as it kept shutting off, is there an option for me to manually enter my password each time I visit?
My system had a Root kit + I think it might be better for me to enter my info each time. Does this make sense?
Thank you

Yes.
Simply "log out"
When you then log back in, do not select the "remember me" box.
That works on most boards, by the way, so you can do it on any other board you visit.

Oh, maybe you are talking about IE's password option.
To turn that off:
Click on the "Tools" menu from the top of your screen.
At the bottom of the drop-down window, click on "Internet Options".
Click on the "Content" tab.
Click on the "Auto-complete" button and the "Auto-complete Settings" screen appears.
Uncheck the box that says "User names and passwords on forms".
Then, on the "Tools" Internet Options" "General" window,
In the "Browsing History" "Delete" option, select "delete passwords".
This way, IE won't have them either.
Of course, all this is assuming you've got those passwords documented somewhere else.

In Firefox it works similar. Tools > Options > security > untick the option to save passwords. Under options > privacy you can do some more settings under the private data section.

Thanks for the help!
Looks as tho I have a lot of work to do in manually writing down all my user names+passwords for various forums+clubs.
The root kit found really bothered me. I want to be as cautious as possible. As mine is a home computer with no one else having access, what difference does it make for me to type in log in info each time versus being automatically remembered?
Don't the hackers monitor key strokes too?

I don't know if this is the place to ask. If not, please redirect me,thank you very much.
I asked a question in my last post here about auto log in vs. manually typing in the info each time.
Mine is a home computer with no one else having access. What is the harm in using the auto log in feature at forums only?
I don't see how anyone else can get my info.
Thank you

It's very simple. Never use an auto login.
As soon as you have a problem, all your login's are compromised. Your passwords, etc.
Those in the know never use such.
Some sites even prefer a masked login.
Be WWW safe!

Although I've been a member for a while, I've never replied, posted or otherwise "actively" participated, so forgive me if I've not replied properly to this thread.
I just feel very strongly about this issue and wanted to offer the following advice regarding the use of auto logins and remembering numerous passwords. I agree, NEVER use auto logins.
I have well over forty sites I visit regularly, from banking sites to fun sites. With each new site, I need a user name and password, and I NEVER use auto logins for security reasons. I don't always use the same user name on every site. And some of my passwords are extremely secure (using capital letters in odd places along with a symbol in the fourth or fifth position and at least two numerals at the end, making them hard break and harder to remember). Finally, I change some of these passwords every thirty days.
To keep track, I simply created a Passwords file on a spreadhseet and saved it to a flash drive and a CD-RW disc. With the spreadsheet, I have columns for a site's name and url, my user ID, my password, along with the answers to various security questions some sites require. I can edit this file any time I need. This file is NEVER stored on my computer. When I need to access or update the file, I simply insert the flash drive. If I edit the file, I will burn the updated file onto the CD-RW disc as soon as possible, just in case the flash drive dies. (Since this is the only file on this particular flash drive, I use a cheap flash drive. It hasn't died yet but, if it does, I have the file backed up on disc.)
I also usually will not insert the flash drive if I am online. If I think I may need to access to several passwords before I get off the web, I just print the entire spreadsheet (one page), put it beside the computer and shred it when my session is over.
I know this sounds like overkill, but I never have a concern about my user ID's and their associated passwords being compromised.
Hope this helps!
Marty
