I'm trying to update or rather see if there are any critical updates on my windows 98 system. However, whenI go on the website or click on windows update on my tools I'm told that I have a Macintosh system. I'm a bit confused. How do I find out if there are any critical updates?
Thank you

Windows 98, is no longer supported by Microsoft.
You won't find any new updates updates, for it.

So my system is ok? I ask this because I can't connect to certain sites such as purchasing plane tickets.

What problem are you having?
Error messages?
Have a link to the sites you're having problems with?

I've run my AVG, my spy-bot, and my ad-aware cleaners. I think something is wrong with my internet settings. I don't even know what my settings should be. It's very frustrating. When I try to link onto a pagee, it comes up as "this page cannot be displayed...check DNS settings..." How do I find out what my settings should be?
Thanks

I don't think I use a firewall. I have AVG, Spy-bot, Ad-Aware, and CCleaner. I don't know how to check a log. Obviously I'm not computer savvy at all. I do appreciate your help. I have a rather old computer. It's a Compaq Presario 1670. Would this make a difference in anything?
Thanks

In that case if you go to internet explorer, and select internet options, select the connections tab, there should be a LAN settings select this and tell it to automatically choose. that might help
also has spybot detected anything prior to loosing the internet?

My LAN setting is checked to automatic detect. The proxy box is checked also.

Have you removed any malware through spybot? if so then it is possible that it has deleted something vital to connect to the internet.
Can other things access the internet for example MSN skype?
