Hi there,

Think this is the correct forum for my enquiry!! Forgive me if it's not. poster_oops.gif

I'm running 98SE on a P3 with 256 RAM.
With USB1.
I'm hoping to upgrade in around 18 months.

In the meantime I'm looking to upgrade my scanner.
I've narrowed it down to two models.
However, both of them, Canon's CanoScan 8600F, and
Epson's Perfection V750 use USB2 Hi-Speed connections
to the PC.

My query is, will a USB2 Hi-Speed connection
to my USB1 to be safe?? (albeit with a
much slower transfer rate) scratchhead.gif

Sorry for the "blonde" moment. blush.gif blush.gif

With thanks,

Well, depending on your processor speed, you could run windows XP, Anyways... I would reccommend the Canon scanner, as epson equipment is cheap and breaks easily. Yes you can use a USB 1.0 in a 2.0 slot, it will run slower, but your wont notice too much of a difference.

Many thanks for taking the time and trouble to reply. smile.gif
It's much appreciated.

The CanoScan 8600F it is then!! thumbup2.gif
Half the price of the Epson, too. thumbup.gif

I've used my old Canon flatbed scanner for around 10 years without any problems,
but it can't do film/slide scanning, hence me needing/wanting to upgrade.

Once again, many thanks.

Kind regards,

Carol
