well i have a hp pavillion laptop and i was haveing problems with the power plug in the back of the laptop, if i unplug it and plug it back it sometimes it stays powered but most of te time it gets power for a few seconds and then lose power, well recently it don't charge anymore, the light on the laptop flickers on and off and i can hear a faint intermittent sound coming from the back of the computer where the plug goes, it's sorta like a buzzing sound...
i just want to know if anyone have any sugesstions about where can i start, i was gonna get another battery or the power supply but i don't want to end up buying something like that and end up having to throw the laptop away...

Sounds like it's the connection itself (the actual plug) or the wires that are in the back of the plug. Try gently holding up, down, left/right and at different angles to see if it will stay on when it's got slight pressure holding it one way or another. If so, then I'd try a different power cord without holding it up/down/left/right or any direction to see if it still does the original problem. If it does, then you've pretty much narrowed it down to the power plug in on the back of the lap top. You can take it apart and look at the wires...possibly even solder them to see if that will fix it.
Hope this helps!
