I was wondering if anyone could explain this to me.

QUOTE
Are you sure that you want to empty your junk folder?

Note: Messages you report as junk e-mail are used by Microsoft to improve the Junk E-mail Filter. Microsoft may also provide the reported messages to third parties. To help combat junk e-mail.

I may be naive. But this makes me think that I may receive more junk e-mail. So to get around this so called reporting to third parties. I move any junk e-mail I receive to my Inbox and delete it from there.

Am I correct in thinking this? Or just being silly and paranoid?

You are not silly and paranoid.

In theory, when you report them to M$ as junk mail, they may or may not include them in future releases as being junk mail. I suppose that is if enough people report the same ones. The third party portion just means that they will let another company know about it as well. The other company may send out E-mails to confirm/deny the junk mail. One could see those as being junk mail as well. Again all of this is in theory.

Reporting junk Email as SPAM will not increase your junk emails, in fact it will accomplish just the opposite, but providing the filtre with more examples of what is SPAM. Any reporting to third parties will be from MS, not from you, and there will be no personally identifying information provided.

Still on hotmail?

Would you like a free gmail invite? They give away free pop so you can use it with Outlook or other email programs.

I know you probably know this. Just Google is BETA and hotmail is not but google wins in space....
Scarlett
Yes I still have Hotmail. For personal use. Which now has 250MB inbox and 10MB files or photos. And a Yahoo address which is basically a throw-away e-mail address.

I may consider it though. Thanks. smile.gif

Your welcome! I now use yahoo for my .net account which is soon to be changed over fully to google........

It just gives you the option of reporting the junk mail...deleting them won't automatically report them. I delete mine all the time smile.gif
