Is there any secret to getting Vista's Complete PC Restore to see a backup? I had regular backups scheduled to a mapped network drive, and due to a recent patch that corrupted the system I'm finally having to use it. I boot up the Vista DVD, map a network drive to the server and try a restore, only to get a no valid backups found message. I then tried copying the backup files to an external hard disk, attach it to the system and boot up on the DVD, but get the same message.

I'm wondering if a volume label has to be applied before Vista "sees" the backup. If someone is backing up to an external USB disk and can check that I sure would appreciate it. Any other ideas?

An excellent tutorial on this feature here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial144.html

Nice tutorial, but not much help for this problem. sad.gif

If I could just get it to find my backup I'd be in business.
