Hi tim.
If this is only a problem in word, with word\office closed, locate and delete the "normal.dot" file. When you launch word, it will create a new one.
Make sure you have "Show Hidden Files and Folders" selected via Tools>Folder Options>View tab in explorer as the file is hidden by default. If it doesn't work, it's probably an add-in causing the problem.
Let us know.

Are you still able to search your file structure through My Computer.

Check for any Add-ins via Tools>Templates and Add-ins. Remove the checks from any you see and click ok..
Close then reopen word and try a save.

i tried disabling plug-ins, then restarting MS word, but still doesn't work. There was only one plug-in, a "Snag-it add in.dot" file. i disabled it, but i still couldn't save.
