You can't install it anyway on Vista, it says it's unnecessary to do so because Windows Defender comes with Vista and ends the installation. I assume that it means that Vista's version is up to date.

...While "version 7.0" appeared to be a legitimate version of Windows Defender, in fact, it's just a refreshed build...The "new" Defender is really just a new build, version 1.1.1593...
