I had just graduated from college, and figured out I didn't want to be a High School Chemistry Teacher. My wife's family was moving back to Houston (they are all originally from there), and there is a market for Chemists in Houston. Young and married men will do anything to make their bride happy, so we moved. Away from my family, and the only place that ever 'felt like home'. (Lived in 13 states and counting). Made more $$ than ever, spent more $$ than ever, and still not happy. Plus my job sucked! And the weather blows there, I am a mountain man for goodness sake!

So I am working my way back! wink.gif Slowly climatizing my wife, and patiently showing her that our lives were the best when we were there. I have left resentment behind. I have time. At least there is snow here! thumbup.gif

OK blueandgold04.
I too live in IL. and will be heading the same direction in about 10 years (god willing). I spend much time in the mountains from Colorado to the Canadian border, as well as Alaska, as part of my employment. I would like to retire in N.W. Montana or perhaps northern Idaho. In any case, I know how you feel. smile.gif
Sorry mz30, don't mean to hijack the thread. smile.gif

HitSquad, I lived in Kalispell, MT (NW Corner) for years before it became the 'city' it is now. thumbsdownsmileyanim.gif

It was one of the best places on Earth. Freedom!!! In every way. From about 1996-2000. Then all the Californians moved in and turned it into what they wanted to leave behind. If you wanted to hit a mall, you knew you had to drive for 1.5 hours, but you didn't have to deal with a mall around you!

Anyhow, to date my worst mistake was ever leaving that place. I think in a lot of ways my Wife would agree as well, now that she has had time to look at it from a distance.

Some mistakes are meant to be corected! cowboy.gif
