I was wondering how I can erase/delete search histories in my several different browsers & programs & web sites. I like the fact that when I go to my normal FF browser, click on the google search window I can type a few letters and a drop down list of previous searched words show up. However I would like to have some control over them as well. Some words I use a lot others I'd really like to erase forever. I'm not sure if these words can be edited.
The good use of these drop down lists are:
-Google: makes it easy to return to a previous search.
-Website: save bank passwords, bittorent searches, & login info which really is nice, since I tend to forget them.

The bad:

-Morpheus and other p2p searches seem to stay on the list. Some searches I'd like to erase forever :-)
-If you accidentally enter the wrong word or letter & hit enter, that word or letter appears forever in the drop down list.

I've erased cookies & stored search history several time (at least I thought I had). I've never used an internet history/tracks program to clean up PC, which might help I guess.
I've even (accidentally) deleted saved passwords like the one that auto logs me into default web page "MyWay".

A friend said these words can not be edited. I thought maybe they are saved somewhere on my PC like cookies. Any help would be nice.

I think it is an "all or nothing" kind of thing, and you cannot pick and choose the auto-fill items.

You can completely disable auto-fill in Firefox.
Tools/Options. Click on the Privacy tab. Under "History" uncheck all three boxes.
