I think the average desk chair is about 250-300 pounds. I sit on mine with my gf on my lap and I weigh around 180 and her about 100 so it hold up 280 well and it's a cheaper chair from staples.
mz30
Mar 12 2007, 04:24 PM

so divide your weight and your gf by the mass of the chair and you get?
i bet i'm right

So a chair with a seat 18 inch square would hold 5670 pounds? Or 33 people weighing 170 pounds?

mz30
Mar 12 2007, 04:31 PM

Figure on 250 lbs thats what the cylinder in mine is rated at
KoanYorel
Mar 14 2007, 04:41 PM
The cylinder, frame, seat & back support may be rated at or near 250 #'s.
What are the little plastic wheels and axles rated at now-a-days?
IDK for sure, but probably at much less in combination seeing most new rolling chairs fail at these points.
