i went to pcpitstop and ran a full dignostic of my computer, about half way through a message came up that
c:\windows\system32\pcpbios.exe
c:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt.
this system file is not suitable for running msdos and windows applications
and has a button to turn it off.
does any one know what it is for , and if i don't need it how to get rid of it ?

also click start then run and type sfc /scannow there is a possibility that you might have to create a recovery disk if the above doesn't work

That Error is known to the PCPitstop Administration and they have been working on it for quite some time.

It occurs as a result of conflicts with some Norton products, even when Norton has been removed, but some "remnant" files remain on the user's machine.

The Error affects very few machines, but the affected machines always show an active Norton utility, or remnants of Symantec that remain behind after Uninstalling Norton.

Might help to run the Norton Uninstaller Tool, and then navigate to C:\Program Files\ and C:\Program Files\Common\ to consider deleting any remnants of Norton.

If you are a user of Norton Security or Symantec Products, this is not meant to imply that there is anything wrong with Norton/Symantec. Norton/Symantec produces competent products, but with some machines, in some circumstances the Norton/Symantec files conflict with the PCPitstop Full Tests.
