This might be an Office 2007 problem, but I think it is a Vista problem.

On 01 Feb, Vista installed, with user "U N".
[ " U N" is an alias to protect the identity of the innocent. ]
All subsequent action performed with user account "U N".
Office 2007 Standard installed using upgrade & Office 2000 CD for qualifying
product.
All verified & activated.
At this point, Word, Excel & Outlook all worked.
Setup Outlook; transferred old outlook.pst to C:\user\UN\documents\email
Pointed Outlook to said folder.
Life was good. We could read old email, send & receive new email.
As best as I can recall, this was the last time Office 2007 programs were
verified as working.
Norton Internet Security 2007 installed.
We could access the internet.

POP3 is comcast, not MSN as

On 02 Feb, user tried to install Act 2005, which failed.
Then, the user tried to install [ QuickBooks ] QB 2007, which failed. User
called Intuit. They blamed & referred the user to Microsoft.
I uninstalled QB.
I installed the Windows Cleanup Utility [ which is 64 bit & Vista compatible
] & used it.
Then, I installed QB 2007 using the Program compatibility feature, with a
setting of compatibility to Windows XP.
QB 2007 works well.

Open Outlook, Excel, Word and Windows tells us that the program has not been
installed for the current user. This is the only user, except for
"Administrator" on the computer.

I searched the internet & found references to "User Access Control". But the
most recent reference was Dec 2006 & RFC. I found no references to the
commercial Vista.

I turned off UAC, rebooted & viola, Office 2007 programs worked fine.
I turned on UAC, rebooted, Office 2007 programs did not work fine.

I repaired Office 2007 using the "change" feature in "programs & features.
Same problem.

I uninstalled Office 2007.
Ran Windows Cleanup Utility, but no references to Office 2007.
With UAC on, I installed Office 2007. Same problem.

I tried to install Office 2007 in safe mode, but the Windows installer would
not run.

With UAC off, when I opened Word, I received a message that "Word failed to
start correctly last time. Starting word in safe mode will help you correct
or isolate a staratup problem in order to successfully start the program.
Some functionality may be disabled in this mode. Do you want start Word in
safe mode?"
I selected "no".
I started word: winword /a
Life was good.

I turned on UAC, rebooted. Opened Office 2007 programs & the program has not
been installed for the current user.

Re-install, repair re-install & sfc /scannow , have been considered. I will
try sfc /scannow first.

I hope you can offer additional suggestions.

No, this is not a license agreement issue. It is a UAC issue.

It appears only when UAC is on. When UAC is off, the message that "X" has not been installed for the current user.

"X" being Word, Excel, Outlook

According to this, and many other posts like it, http://dotnet.org.za/armand/archive/2006/1...tInstalled.aspx , the problem is resolved after turning off UAC, rebooting, then enabling UAC.

On this computer, that is not the case. It appears only when UAC is on. When UAC is off, the message that "X" has not been installed for the current user.

The office 2007 product key was entered during installation.

This is a strange one, and I honestly have no idea. Wh not give microsoft a call..you should be able to get free support on office 2007

Have you tried to move the shortcuts for the Office programs to the All Users desktop? (just shooting in the dark here! )

Watching this thread with interest. I have the same, or very similar, problem. Contact with MS was that they were investigating - that was a while ago. My solution - I uninstalled the whole Office suite and returned to 2003. It's always worked perfectly for me.

I cannot offer much. First. I am logged on as the Administrator, I have no user/administrator account. I am 32 bit (This could be part of your problem?)
I have an original Office 2007 DVD, not an upgrade.
O.K. So now I first backed up my docs and email. I uninstalled MS Office 2003 entirely. I then installed 2007.
Now, after one days use and several restarts, all is still fiunctioning 100%

Just thought of something. I recently installed Office 2003 on a new vista machine and they had problems with it because the permissions to the office registry key was not set so that the user could access them. Maybe give further access to the following keys:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office

In my situation when ever an office app would start it would show the license agreement. I would press I agree, it would go away and the program worked fine. The next time it ran it would display the license agreement again. Giving greater permissions to everyone for those two keys, and its subkeys/values, fixed the problems.

Now this could still be a UAC issue, but maybe UAC is hardening the reg perms? Doubt this will help your problem but I thought I would throw it out there.
