I'm buying a new cd/dvd drive from newegg so I can get it cheap, they're mostly all OEM drives so they don't come with any software... Am I correct in thinking that windows will find, download and install whatever drivers it needs automatically?

XP and 2000 should have no problems at all with most OEM drives, however if this drive is a burner, you will need burning software, check here:

I got a Lite-On oem dvd burner/cd burner combo drive from newegg. All I did was put it in my computer, and when I booted up it says windows has found new hardware. It worked right away though. I'm using windows xp.
