Unable to open the WORD program. When I attempt to do this I get activity that looks like it's loading the program and then I get the little box that says I need the CD or the student info that was originally used when the program was installed. The program was installed when my son was a college student several years ago.
I'm wondering if my automatic updating of the critical updates would have something to do with this? I notice the uninstallof these updated are listed under Windows like this $NtUninstallKB....... If it's possible an update might have created this problem, how do I determine which of these updated, if any, pertain to Word and then how is it uninstalled??
Thanks

I would not think that that any MS Word update would cause it not to open. Can you click on a .doc file and will Word open that way? Can you provide the precise version of Word installed?

How many times have you installed this version of Office? I've noticed that if you install it more than like 6 times, the product won't activate for you....

This normally happens when you try to add new features /addins. These always will need to be installed from the CD if the setup files have been removed from the machine.

Try pressing Start and going to run. Type "winword.exe /firstrun" This may stop the update but I cant count on it.
