Vista activation cracked by brute force

Sledgehammered

IT LOOKS LIKE Microsoft's unhackable OS activation malware has been hacked.

By Charlie Demerjian: Thursday 01 March 2007, 17:15

It is a simple brute force attack, dumb as a rock that just tries keys. If it gets one, you manually have to check it and try activation. Is is ugly, takes hours, is far from point and click, but it is said to work....

Well, that means some less money for the BG Foundation....

Yep....... it looks like M$ is going to be getting alot of complaints, and possible lose alot of loyal customers too.

It's a shame, but as long as M$ continues to make an OS software and charge for it, there will always be those that are already working on cracking it. And it's fair to say that the cracking attempts were being worked on while it was in beta stage.

I'll give it a week or so, and then anyone will be able to download Vista, along with the Key Cracker/Generator and activate it, all for FREE.

Soon, many people who have paid for theirs are going to feel like they should have either waited or simply never bought it. Me, myself, I never buy an OS when it first comes out. It's too risky to do so, and once again, I feel I'm right again.

Oh Well..

There has been a time activation crack out for ages.
It just goes to show it does not matter how secure you make it there is only a matter of time before someone cracks it. To be honest I am sure it is mostley insiders in microsoft that supply the algerithms out to the crackers. It will not be to long before there is a crack that is quick and simple as with most Apps.
It is a shame that it comes to people cracking software because they believe it is not worth paying for. Does not say much for Vista now does it.

I knew vista was gonna get cracked, pretty much everything can get cracked.

Everything in life has a pattern, just find the pattern and exploit it, tell the people, and get locked up in jail.

I just checked on a site, and Windows Vista has already been exploited, going back to at least June of 2006, a bit going out of their beta stages. The latest exploit I found was Feb 27, 2007. That was just 3 days ago, and it's already released to the public.

So yes, Windows Vista has been been broken into.

Oh Well..

That crack fact just bolsters the recommendation we've given customers, along with the oppressive DRM, that they should never install Vista; it is better to continue to use XP Pro and use Linux. When new computers are needed we have recommended custom builds and Linux installed on them. Look, the USA is coming around to the climate shift and what is needed. The surface effects are not needed; I configure for efficiency no matter the ram. I recommend the same for home and work. Vista is not good for media unless you're willing to allow the content producers to control your computer. My network has two Macs, one of them a relic of old, two Windows, 98SE and XP Pro, and soon to have a Linux machine.

It is not a grand crusade for me, for us; it is simply that we do not need Microsoft anymore, and neither do you or any save the technological crippled. The latter is shrinking group.

I wanted a Vista without the graphical effects and DRM. I just wanted better security. Thanks for opensource. But one day some enterprising capitalist will build a proprietary OS from scratch that runs on IBM compatibles which is smaller, stabler, and more secure. It may be named OS X. Hmmm

Good find KY. I'm amazed at the high technology that was utilized

'Twas actually a find by tg1911, who often feeds me items for the front page.

The technology, ahh, the technology. Use a large enough sledgehammer long enough and 25 digit serials & key codes just seem to melt away. w00t.gif

I was just going to be a matter of hours before the software was hacked...

I knew it would happen. MS is going to switch to 50 digit keys blink.gif . I have a hard enough time saving my old keys for my Win 95 machine and that is only 10-15 numbers only.

About time for Altimit OS haha (anyone who watches .HACK// will know what I mean).

Anyways, so basically it just guesses key combinations until it finds one? Pretty complex. Now lets see them make one that can crack all the security systems in 5 mins....

Don't challenge people like that... cause you know someone if going to do it tongue.gif

man, I wonder how many legit keys can people get if they leave their computer on for a week.............
Klinkaroo
I don't know but probably going to be a pain if you have to type everyone by hand tongue.gif

the new PARADOX's crack might save more time, without even trying to get a legit key. lol, feeling sorry for microsoft.

I remember when Bill Gates came to a radio station and talked about Windows Vista being unhackable, $#@! that! Turns out he was wrong. I put all thumbs up for Brute Force!

Are we talking about t h i s ?

Nice find John.
Note I've edited the thread title.

meh, figures. Everything gets cracked sooner or later. I will still use Vista though. I like the nice features and upgraded security.

Seems like such a stupid thing to say, surely that gives an even bigger incentive for people to hack it, all the M$ haters just wanting to prove him wrong? wacko.gif
GrendelKhan{TSU}
OEM crack was confirmed by MS as real.
http://www.clantsu.org/forums/pc-gaming-ne...a-oem-hack.html

but this one I think proved to be real too:
http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/news/index.cfm?newsid=8712

dunno. but it does seem to be true that VISTA is NOT nearly as easy to crack as the others (though unhackable is ludicrious)

Windows Vista has been cracked.... and that's confirmed. Just ask those that have activated it and are running it right now. Brute Force or not..... it's been cracked, hacked, repacked, and stacked.

[Added info]
For those of you that are computer literate, and resourceful on the internet should already know the truth about the Windows Vista crack.

It surprises me that so many technological people post bogus info (not by their own writings) from others that have convinced them of something... and yet they... the posters haven't checked out. Use those computer skills and put to rest the rumors. You have the power to do so.

Windows Vista has been cracked. It can be downloaded, and activated all for FREE. Don't go lame on me now. I test everything that I can test, when it comes down to computer software. Don't blame me for being so resourceful. Windows Vista has been cracked, and I'm proof of it. So no matter what you've heard, what you think, and even what you believe... Windows Vista has been cracked. Who wants to challenge that FACT? If you do, just do a search on it. You'll get your answers.

The internet has opened the doors to many obstacles that would be there if not for the internet. I've always been a computer explorer/examiner/troubleshooter,, and I've always found what I was looking for on the internet. I never-ever download to sell and (or) profit from what I download. I'm personal when it comes to software, and I'm very picky about sources that I give out. Not that there's nothing to hide, but the fact remains the same that people will always find fault in something that is good.

I've tested the Windows Vista Ultimate, validated it and went on my merry way. So, if anyone still insists on posting that the crack is not true, you're reading a post from someone that saw it being installed, and activated, and still running to this day..... and that was weeks ago.

Don't go believing everything you read/hear from Press Releases. It's designed to make you think one thing is different from another.

Windows Vista has been cracked. The Ultimate version.... I must add.

And for the ending... I test every software on planet earth I want to test. No question about that. The internet is fair game. As simple as that. I don't sell anything as far as software is concerned... but if I'm curious about a software, I'll look for it, and if I can get it, I do. I'm just experimenting, testing, verifying. That's all.

And M$ need to quit that bull crap about their faulty work and software. But I must admit... their work has many people fooled/misled.

Microsoft + Security = Yeah Right wacko.gif

Another point? stop believing everything you read and (or) hear. That's what your computer is for. Find out for yourself. I do, and I do it all the time on the computers.

Hmmmm. Doesn't change my opinion about moving to Vista. It does remind me to verify, verify, verify. Good mod, I too say.
