Is the Vista firewall good enough to keep? If not, are there any free firewalls for Vista?
Warm regards,
Kyle

If the firewall in vista is configured correctly, it will be good enough to keep, just make sure both inbound and outbound monitoring are on.
If you don't like the vista firewall, try Agnintium Outpost, or Zone Alarm.

Tried zone alarm and it was not compatible
Neither was Agnintium Outpost, I had to delete it in Safe Mode. Any other ideas? Kerio Free also doesn't work.

If you are going through a router, that is usually configurable, free, and good enough
I have an internet connection through my LAN, but I still need a firewall for that PC. Sygate Free doesn't work either.

In that case, I would stick with the vista firewall, and configure it to your needs
http://searchwindowssecurity.techtarget.co...1217062,00.html might help.
Zone alarm i'm stunned that they don't have a vista ready package, they should do very soon.
Try jetico firewall, I read somewhere that it was compatible. if not mcaffee or symantec will
Hope this helps

You can download a free firewall that works with Vista (not the 64 bit version)
from the PC Tools folks
h e r e. I've been using it for awhile, and haven't had any problem so far.

JohnWho, I've had a heck of a time trying to use PC Tools Firewall! I'm on dial-up and all I can get is "limited" connectivity with it.... I'm back to Windows Firewall with Sphinx Software - VistaFirewallControl
