We have just put up a new tutorial on how to uninstall the Microsoft Java Virtual Machine and replace it with the Sun Java Machine
Scarlett
QUOTE
If you are using Windows 95, 98, 98SE and ME then you need to replace c:\windows\system32 with c:\windows\system.

May be getting ready to tackle this. How excactly do I do the above?
Grinler
I changed the text to make it more understandable just now. Go take a look and tell me if it makes more sense.
Scarlett
Okay smile.gif
Replace all occurences? Im a rock I guess. This does not mean others won't understand it.

Rename them? Regedit > Edit > rename
Grinler
What I am saying is for example a instruction says this:

#

# When the computer has restarted and you are back at the desktop delete the follow folders and directories:

1. c:\windows\inf\java.pnf
2. c:\windows\java
3. c:\windows\system32\wjview.exe
4. c:\windows\system32\jview.exe

What I am saying is that if you have 95/98/me, replace where it says c:\windows\system32\ above to c:\windows\system32.

I am not sure its you, i think it may be unclear. If you can think of a better way to word it let me know and i will do so smile.gif
Scarlett
I still do not get it.

How do I replace these from one to the other? Or is it just the folder that I choose while in Search for Files and Folders?

Thanks for you patience. smile.gif

BTW your new Av. rocks! w00t.gif
Grinler
Yeah i like the new av as well smile.gif

What i am saying is that if the instructions say:

2. c:\windows\java
3. c:\windows\system32\wjview.exe
4. c:\windows\system32\jview.exe

and you are using windows 98/95*Grinler those instructions become

QUOTE
# When the computer has restarted and you are back at the desktop delete the follow folders and directories:

1. c:\windows\inf\java.pnf
2. c:\windows\java
3. c:\windows\system\wjview.exe
4. c:\windows\system\jview.exe

Notice how system32 in the instructions have been substituded with system?
Scarlett
Oh I think I got it. With ME I am to be on the lookout for:

c:\windows\system\

Not:

c:\windows\system32\

Right?
Grinler
Correct you want c:\windows\system and not system32
