I had Outlook on my new Toshiba with Vista Ultimate and it crashed for some reason. I tried to reinstall it from the Office CD and kept getting an error message. A visit to Microsofts knowledge base revealed the problem is I'm trying to install Outlook without having service pack 2 on my machine. Of course, I can't put service pack 2 on because I'm running Vista now.

I really like Outlook and think Microsoft really screwed up by dumping it.

Is there some sort of workaround for this or do I have to go with windows mail, which won't let you set up POP and Internet accounts like Outlook did.

Failing a workaround, is there another program that will run multiple accounts that are POP and web based? I'm running Cox and Hotmail.

I have a pop account using Windows mail....maybe I'm missing something in that?

Runs well in compatibility mode.

What does you're "exact" error message say?

They didn't dump it. However, "Outlook Express" is now "Microsoft Mail".
Which version of Outlook and\or Office are you trying to install?

I don't recall the exact message; I gave up and went with Microsoft mail, which will have to do.

Thanks for the suggestions.
