I am troubleshooting on 98se, certain audio files suddenly wont play on 98se but will play on my XP. just like overnite they wont play but when open them in XP, no problems,,,,any ideas?

What are you using to play these files? What happends when you open them? Do you get an error or just no sound?

i use realplaya or windows media player, I get no errors and no sound, however I can get perfect sound from any media player on my XP PRO. wiered huh?

check to make sure all your drivers are up to date

Open up the volume control and make sure the sound isn't muted and your sliders aren't set all the way down, particularly the Main/Master volume control and the Wave control.

Also check the speaker connections.
