The internet connects first to my modem. Then it connects to a multi-port switch. I have four patch
cables cat 5 using RJ45 connectors between the PCs and the switch. My computer is the slowest. Is
there a correct way to configure this network? We are all using Xp and in the networking properties
we are all set to use DHCP. Is there a way to configure this to improve the speed or would static
addresses improve things. I am a green novice and could quite easily have make a fundamental
mistake. Any advice would be appreciated, and very welcome. Thanks. sad.gif

Is the connection an honest to goodness switch, or is it just a hub or a router? And if it is a switch, what sort of switch is it?
