Its seems that when you try to use a microsoft wireless optical mouse with vista for some reason the screen saver does not go on but if I try it with a corded mouse, the screen saver kicks in like normal...
Any suggestions??

I use a Microsoft 3000 wireless mouse on the wife's Vista Basic laptop and don't have this problem. Have you installed the Vista Intellipoint drivers for it?

Yes, I downloaded the new drivers from MS but I still get the same result. I use a corded optical mouse and it works fine as far as the screen saver. The wireless mouse works ok it just seems to cause screen saver issues....

Microsoft released an update (HID - Non-User Input Data Filter) for Vista that addresses that exact screen saver issue. Get it via windows update. For what it's worth,
here is a list of supported MS mice in Vista with the 6.1 drivers as well.
