running os xp media center sp2
Just looking for some input on IE7 vs Firefox. I' m currently using IE7 and have not experienced any problems with this browser. I have also heard and read a lot of very positive things about Firefox, mostly it's speed and security. I' m just wondering if it's as good as I've heard, and if I install it are there any conflicts between Firefox and IE7 I need to watch out for.

I've been using Firefox for a few years (since it was known as Firebird), and love it.
It's a more secure browser than Internet Explorer, because it doesn't use ActiveX controls, but Java applets instead.
Also, if a security flaw is discovered (which doesn't happen often), it's usually fixed within a few days, as opposed to the months you have to wait for an Internet Explorer security patch
In most instances, you will find Firefox to be a faster browser than IE, especially if you employ pipelining.

The reason it's faster is because Firefox doesn't come pre-loaded with a bunch of features you don't need.
You can run Firefox as lean, or as bloated as you want with the use of extensions, which allow you to customize it the way you want it, not the way someone else thinks it should be.

When adding extensions I'd advise adding one at a time, try it for a couple of days, and if no problems arise, add another.
Sometimes extensions have been known to cause problems, due to incompatibility's, or corrupt downloads.
If you install them one at a time, and test it, it's easier to troubleshoot if one starts causing problems.
You don't have to uninstall IE to use Firefox, or any other browser.
In fact, you can't uninstall IE, because it would damage Windows, since it's intertwined into the operating system.
You can use as many browsers as you want, at the same time.

Give it a try, you have nothing to lose.

Firefox is certainly a more secure, if not better, browser. Security problems are patched more rapidly, and development work on enhancements rolled out to users on a a regular basis by a dedicated open source community.

i think IE7 is just a wanna be firefox copy.I used IE,but since i started to use Firefox ive had better speed
