Full Version: What Graphics Card Do I Have?

I know that I have a NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600 graphics card. It said so in the product literature, and it says so when I check Properties -> Hardware -> Device Manager -> Display Adapters on my computer.

Thing is, there are two types of NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600 graphics cards; GS and GT. One is much faster than the other.

I'm going to be involved in some simulation stuff in the near future and just want to know how powered up my computer actually is ... and to be able to specify accurately what hardware I have. I haven't found a way to check hardware / performance that gives me even a hint whether I'm running the faster or slower version of the chip.

Can't guarantee it but a PC Audit utility should give you more info about what's inside your PC than you can shake a stick at, if you can cut your way through all the other irrelevant stuff it tells you to get at what you really want to know.

Try 'Belarc Advisor' from: http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html

If that fails you can always 'look under the hood' (observing the usual precautions, of course). It should have either 'GS' or 'GT' printed on it's cooling-fan housing.

Add this to your collection of tools you'll need down the road:

EVEREST Home Edition

EVEREST Home Edition is a free system diagnostics, system information and benchmarking solution for home PC users, based on the award-winning EVEREST Technology. If you don't know what type of video card you have, or anything else about your computer, then you'll need this.

If I had to guess, I'd assume you just have a GeForce Go 7600. GS signifies a low-end card, GT signifies high-end. One without either is right in the middle. If it doesn't directly say either way, that's probably what it is.

There isn't too much difference between the three different types, unless the card is seriously overclocked. Generally it doesn't matter which card you have if you're updating drivers, firmware is another story entirely.

Great stuff. Lots of info about my system in a nice list form.

I do not have reason to suspect that I have two video cards, but Everest gave me a double listing. Can anyone find hints in the following information? Kind of an interesting result. The article linked above says all versions have 256 MB memory. Everest says memory size of mine is 512 MB.

P.S. Coolbits shows a Core Clock Freqency of 450 MHz and a Memory Clock Frequency of 380 MHz. I haven't tried overclocking ... those are just the settings I found. Both settings are about in the middle of the scale that shows what the settings are.
