Howdy,

I currently have Java version 1.5.0_09-b01. Is this the latest version ? I went to my control panel , clicked on Java and then checked for updates. It told me I had the latest update. It was last updated 1-10-07.

I then went to the Java web site and it looks like there is a newer version. ??

I have been getting a window pop up from Spybot telling me that Flash Player is trying to update. I have been denying it because I am not sure what Flash Player is. Is Flash Player part of Java ?

As usual I am confused. If there is a newer version, should I remove Java and then re-install ?

Thank You for your time !

Yes, you should remove the old Java and install the latest one.

Do the same with flash. You'll need to download a removal tool to uninstall it. Go to this link for more information.

Please go to: http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp look for and download Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 as this is the latest version of Java.

You want the Windows Offline Installation, which I think is the first one.

Thanks Budapest.

There were two platforms listed under Windows Offline Installation. I insalled the first one. I believe I am good to go now.
