Hi, I can not power up my pc. I switch it on at the wall, press the 'on' button and there is a brief spike of power where a light goes on then off again and then it is dead. If I press the 'on' button again nothing happens. If I switch it off at the wall and back on again I can repeat the cycle.
I thought it might be the Power Supply Unit so I took it out and off down to Maplins, my local spares shop. However they tested it and said it was ok.
My pc is 2.5 years old. Is there anything I can try? Thanks

Hello,

Is everything connected properly inside the case? ie RAM hard drive etc.
Has the computer been acting strangly prior to the incedent?

Hi, thanks for your reply. As far as I can tell, everything is connected ok. I have unplugged the straps and plugged them back in again. I has been working without problems and with no strange behavior. The last change it had was some software loaded for a MP3 player I bought for my daughter at christmas, but it worked fine a couple of times before the fault.
