I was looking at something and came across this link from the 20th anniverary,so today it's 21..

The PC virus celebrates its 20th year of existence following the detection back in January '86 of the boot sector virus, Brain, which infected computers via floppy disk. While the virus Brain itself was relatively harmless, it set in motion a long chain of events leading up to today’s virus situation.

Hi Boopme,

It does give one reason to mentally 'pause', doesn't it. For all the wonderful things computers can do, there are those pesky viruses to cause wrack and ruin. But if our computer 'crashes', it's frustrating but life doesn't come to a screeching halt, in reality.

But at least some who have built computer-controlled homes, have found when the computer develops 'glitches' it's a highly unpleasant sitation within their homes. (No heat, no light, can't get through their front door, etc).

Imagine - we're living in computer controlled homes, driving computer controlled cars, using computer androids - and so smuck figures out a way to infect everything. Life as we know it really could come to a screeching halt - eep!

Yes, that is why i wished an unhappy one. Considering the years spent just using the machine to do whatever. Now everything needs a scan, multiple scans, online scans, safe mode scans....
Scads of forums and people working to keep them at bay. Virus, trojan,worms..front door ,backdoor,sidedoor..Oh My w00t.gif
The amount of time spent per week.. just on security. Well since I need to find a good side...
There are jobs and places like BC that also came out of it..

...Have you backed up today ??

What I am amazed at Boopme,we can put man on the moon, and yet cannot put a stop to viriuses, and the other illegal activities which plaque us every single day on the net.Every Computer user on this earth is affected in some way with this curse.
Why hasn't a Bullet Proof OS been developed in 21 yrs? Is the net so complicated and huge,so public, it can't be modified to eliminate these bugs once and for all? Surely, there must be a foolproof way of safe guarding our PC's from any attack, whatsoever. Yes, we all take measures to try and safe guard ourselves against these pests, and with over 150,000 viruses our there and rising,I feel we are fighting a loseing battle.
With it necessary for patches to be issued almost weekly, and often patches on top of patches,I feel they are winning instead of us.
