I've been busy with this the last few weeks,getting signatures and support. Any way to keep it short these guys are down to their final 24 hours. I know it may be innapropriate for the Forum ,but I must ask.. I realise there are a possible 100k people to look at this and I only thought of this post now. Border Agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean are just 24 hours
from reporting to federal prison to serve 11 and 12 years for
their attempt to apprehend an illegal alien drug smuggler.

Last week, Ron De Jong and I had the privilege of meeting
Jose Compean and his wife while presenting 225,000 petitions
to members of Congress on Capitol Hill. The Compeans expressed
their heartfelt thanks for everything you have done in signing
this petition, making phone calls, faxes, etc.

Would you take up their cause again today and make yet
another round of phone calls?

The only official word from the White House came through
Spokesman Tony Snow last week who gave no indication that
the President is considering taking action.

There is so much at stake here, first for these two agents
and their families who have already paid such a high price,
and secondly for our nation.

In the minds of millions of Americans, if these men go to
jail this President will have sided with an illegal
alien drug smuggler instead of the men and
women who are literally standing on the wall
protecting our nation's borders.

I signed it to. That is the most pitful junk I have seen in a while. Defending theirselves and being put in jail.

Our government man....Its like they are not even on our side anymore!

What else bites here is you know this smuggler will next sue the US and win big bucks for being a criminal.

If he wins we need to all stand up as americans and say NO MORE!

Our law needs to be re-written for the good law obiding citizens not the thiefs and crooks.

So basically they're sending the message that you shouldn't do your job so well in the US, or rather try to, but don't try too hard.

If they send these men to jail, they might as well just give the smuggler the money. They've already given him immunity to testify that even though he was doing something wrong those men on the border patrol should pay.


That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. So basically, their jobs is to patrol the border and report if there is any suspicious activity going on, but they can't do anything about it??

Border Agents Jose Compean and Ignacio Ramos have been ordered
by Judge Kathleen Cardone to surrender to the United States
Marshal by 3 pm (EST) today!

Both agents had filed a motion with the court to remain free
on bond while they appeal their case. With this ruling, the
agents must begin serving their sentences beginning today!

I am outraged by this devastating ruling, and want our team
to know that this issue is not over!

This decision to send these men to prison--where they will
likely be placed among the drug dealers and gang members they
put in prison themselves will no doubt send a terrible message
to every law enforcement official in the nation, that our
justice department, our government no longer has your back!

Just two weeks ago, National Guardsmen were fired upon on
the border. But because they cannot engage, they had to retreat!

This is utter madness.

Yesterday, Rep. Ted Poe (R-TX) delivered your petitions directly
to the White House in a twelfth-hour effort to keep these men
from going to prison. The White House did not respond. Why hasn't
the President commented on this case? I want to know!

As mentioned earlier, this issue is far from over.

Grassfire is committed to working to free these men who swore
to protect us. Ron De Jong and I will be presenting your
petitions and meeting with members of the media today, and we
will challenge the President and our Justice System... In short,
we will be bold for these men, and I need you to do the same!

I am personally appealing to each member of our Grassfire team
to stand in the gap for agents Compean and Ramos. Continue
telling their story to friends and rallying much needed
grassroots support.

But it can't end there. Continue pressuring the White House--
demanding they pardon these men!

Fox TV's "America's Most Wanted"
will run a story featuring Agents Ramos and Compean, this
Saturday, February 2.

According to the National Border Patrol Council, the
Department of Justice has twice asked that the show
not be aired!

Correct me if I am wrong.

The agents shot an unarmed man in the back. They did not know that he was an illegal or that he was a drug smuggler.

What is the moral issue here? They shot an unknown man in the back because he was running away. As far as I know that is illegal.

Please enlighten me. I genuinely don't see the dilema.

I think it says somewhere " He thought he saw a gun".I really don't see justice in shooting a man in the back.
Anywhere anytime.................Maybe in Russia or other countries.But they don't do that in the USA without getting serious heat from other officials and higher ups.Not to mention the press if they find out this kind of thing.Lets not forget to mention they lied and tried to cover it up.

Hello Constantine and wesburnsco86...Sorry I am extremely busy as of late and hadn't had time to respond.
Actually as in the first post I was very hurried just to get the post up as there was only hours left. I didn't get to place perhaps enough info. Please read thru this article as it covers most of it in one place.
It explains the shooting as firing and the guy turned to run. This person is and was smuggling 800 lbs. of drugs that day . It's not his only day.

I am conviced. It certainly appears like a huge miscarraige of justice. I would have thought an administrative penaltywould have been appropriate in this case. A long jail sentence is certainly out of all proportion.
