After installing Outlook 2003 on a brand new computer with 2 gig ram, Intel Core 2 duo processor, Outlook is constantly hanging. It will only allow about 3 seconds of response, then hang for about 8 seconds and contiue the process. This takes place regardless of what I'm trying to do in Outlook. In addition it will even stop the icon tray (clock time freezes) and I can't access any of the other open application without going to task manager. I have archived and tried just about everything. Any suggestions?!?!

In this situation have a look at the event viewer this may give some reasons as to what is causing the fault.

Is this issue happening purely on startup of outlook or all of the time.

Hi Jimbojones, welcome to BC. smile.gif
Is this the standalone vesion of Outlook 03 or do you have Office installed?
By default, Outlook 03 uses Word as the default e-mail editor. If you are creating your message in Word and also have multiple word documents open, Outlook may see word as being busy.
In any case, open Outlook only. Click Tools>Options>Mail Format tab. Deselect the two Word 2003 options if they are selected. Click Apply\OK. Close and reopen Outlook. Compose a new message using Outlook and see if it still hangs.
