Hi all,
I've just upgraded from NAV 2004 to NAV 2005 and I was planning on installing the ZoneAlarm firewall but I've since read a couple of articles saying that people have experienced conflicts when running both - has anyone else had any experience of this ?
Can anyone recommend a firewall to use with NAV 2005 ? (I know the obvious choice would be Norton's, but I kind of wanted ZoneAlarm since I've seen it recommended so many times).
Thanks

Hi,
Have you tried the Outpost Firewall from Agnitum?
this FW does not appear to conflict with any AV prog that I know of, but I suggest you go to www.agnitum.com and have a look
Best wishes for the newyear,

For firewall look into Sygate Personal Firewall. I've been using it for quite a while and it just works. And i love software that works (and its free)

Having two firewalls active and running at the same time usually produces conflicts within your OS and usually leads to major problems.

Thanks for the ideas - I'll certainly check out those 2 recommendations.
John - I wasn't thinking of having 2 firewalls running - I know the Norton AV has a 'pseudo' firewall with it, but I was thinking of turning off the INternet Worm protection as I'd rather have a 'real' 2-way firewall - was this what you were thinking would cause a problem, or do you think the firewalls mentioned would conflict with NAV anyway ?
Thanks for the replies - best wishes for the New Year also.

I gave up on Norton products two years ago, so I am not much help here.
Someone using NAV will have to continue this discussion. I would certainly recommend your using a "real" resident firewall, though.
Cheers,
John
