Hey everyone

So I purchased a Packard Bell Fast Media PC Remote Controllor off of eBay... Im curious where I would get drivers for this product, and what is a good (free) program that I can use with it? My main reason for getting the remote control is for media players, such as Winamp... I dont need a fancy program, just something that will allow me to change tracks and adjust volume using the remote.

Any ideas on drivers and good software?

i tried them all, and the one that seems the most promising is PC Remote Control... WIRC says that it will not work with Windows 2000, or Windows XP, so i cant use that one...

with PC RC, it installs and loads correctly, and then I add a new remote... but the problem occurs when I try to "learn" a new command.... in the learn command window, you are instructed to hit the same button several times so that the program will recognize the button, and then assign a command to it... while the program does recognize that I have hit a button, it seems to think that every button is different, i.e. it refuses to learn a button, because it thinks that I am pressing different buttons all the time... this is a problem, because it must receive the same button signal twice in order to "learn" it... whats happening here?

could this maybe be a driver issue? i dont believe that I have any drivers installed... do I need them, and if so, where is a safe place to get them?

If the software thinks that you pressed two buttons when you pressed the same button twice, the chances are that the button from which you were learning is a toggle (power button, for instance), each signal being different which, whatever software you now have, isn't reading correctly. Or the software is flawed in some other ways. Those things are tricky to do well.

I don't understand your sentence "it seems to think that every button is different" - isn't every button supposed to be different? Volume up, down, next track, play ...
