Alright, I just installed a new P5LD2-VM mobo and a new core duo processor, I have a 7900 gt graphics card.. everything seems to be working fine, except when I turn the compy on, neither of my monitors responds. What's up with that? Anyone have any ideas? I unplugged the card and tried the monitors directly in the mobo, but that didn't work. I know the monitors are fine, because I had used them up until 5 minutes before the install. HEAL PLZ.

Did you do any preparation prior to changing the MoBo and CPU? (I take it you already had Windows XP installed as the OS on an existing HDD...)

I don't know what that means. I have two harddrives, both running XP. I haven't reformatted either yet.

Did you have XP on the harddrive in the computer (working properly) and then just change the Motherboard and CPU? And now, nothing works?

It starts. Just nothing comes up is all..

Does it complete the POST alright (ie. one beep)?

Okay, then you need to take it back to basics. You said that the motherboard had an onboard graphics port? Plug the monitor into that.

Remove the Video card and disconnect the Hard Drive(s)/floppy drives from the MoBo..

So make sure the only things connected are:
Keyboard & Mouse
Monitor

Make sure the following has power connected from the PSU:
Motherboard
CPU (the little 4 plug or 6 plug next to the CPU)
Fans/cooling

Make sure the RAM is seated correctly.

Now try and power it up - if it does not post (one beep) or makes a series of beeps, post back here with what happened.

I've got the ram in the first and 3rd slots, does that make a difference?

Nothin'. Did I fry the mobo?

It certainly doesn't sound good.... The RAM - is it meant to be run dual channel? Try removing the RAM in slot 3 and see what happens....

Also, do you have another power supply?
Check the PSU connections to your devices also - I shat myself once when I thought I busted it, but it was the pwer to the Floppy drive incorrectly connected - it would start then click and nothing (it was being tripped by the safety.
Also, don't fret - I am no great expert, so before you go spend more money, wait for someone with more experience than me....

Mine started and then shut off a few seconds later at first, but once we readjusted the heat sink it stayed on. Now I just need the whole functioning thing.

Without physically looking, I am outta ideas. Don't worry though, someone more experienced than myself should be along soon enough... soz

Umm.. was the computer orignally a company-made computer? Like, was it a Dell that came with windows installed on it?

Even if it was, it should still POST okay. It just wouldn't load the OS...

Did you place the motherboard standoffs in the correct locations for that mobo?
