just built a new pc with the following specs

core 2 duo 6600
evga 680i
8800gtx
2 gb ddr 800 ram(1gb x 2)
xfi sound card
160 gb hd(serial ata)
dvd burner (parallel ata)
600 watt zalman zm600 psu

i installed everything, the connections are all secure but when i power on the system theres a loud clicking noise that seems to be coming from the psu(tho im only going by where it sounds like its coming from), and i get no display. my monitor just acts as if its turned on but with the pc off. all the fans spin including cpu fan and video card fan. tried reinserting the video card but to no avail. ill probly rma my psu even if the noise is just a wire clicking against the fan, but it seems like if the psu was shot all the fans wouldnt be spinning. i do hear the post beep.

Just a long shot but..
Are you sure all the memory sticks are seated correctly and they are 100% okay?
I don't know about the clicking but the symptoms of the monitor off and the fans going sound similar to a problem I had to sort out for a friend, and that turned out to be failing memory.

Additionally, the ASUS nForce 590 (the one before yours) was unstable with DDR2-800 RAM..... This may back up what Layor said - do you have any backup RAM you can use to check?

ok the clicking was the psu, something inside was hitting the fan. when i pushed on the grill the clicking went away, but when i released pressure it came back. psu was fully functional but i RMA'ed it because that sound was awful.

video issue i still dont quite understand, for some reason my monitor will not receive a signal from this evga 8800 gtx. i took it to a local comp shop and it worked fine on the owners ancient crt. tried multiple dvi to vga converters but i cant get a signal.

Were you able to substitute the memory?

What monitor are you using, and what did the shop have (that worked)?

ok its the video card, bought a cheapy at best buy and its working fine, video card is on rma.
