Has anyone had success with a wireless setup with Vista?

I've tried a US Robotics 54g USB adapter from another machine to access my existing network, but Vista did not recognize it, mfgr says they have no compatible drivers.

So far, I've not found a list of hardware that might be compatible for this purpose and would appreciate any suggestions.

Use ms update on Vista, and it should find drivers, if not you'll have to install one manually, sometimes the XP drivers will work, but not always

Vista had some teething pains with networking in the earlier builds. There hasn't been much mentioned about it recently so I'd imagine that it was OK now tho'.

My laptop had no problems with the earlier builds - and I believe that it was an Intel wireless chip that it used (although it could have been the Atheros chip instead).

My RC1 build I had worked fine, the only driver I needed I knew from the start I was going to, and had it ready to install. Happy to say Vista treated me well as an OS, but I'm a gamer, so I moved back to XP so I could run my games again

im using a belkin 54g wirless pci card i did have to in sert the install cd to get the drivers off of it but other than that my wireless setup is working better than xp has ever worked its faster and mor stable

Thanks for the suggestions, but no luck. My work-around was to bite the bullet and fish the cable.

Not my favorite task, I always make a huge mess and I hate patching drywall. Let's see, how does that go? Measure once, cut twice? Ugh!

Nope, with drywall it's "Measure once, go out and get some Spackle!"

Try right clicking on the installer, select the Compatibility mode tab, then select "Run in XP compatibility mode" and "Run as Administrator".

Then, rather than double clicking on the icon to run the software, righ click and select "Run as Administrator". It's worked for me on several stubborn apps that refuse to work otherwise.

I have had an issue with Thunderbird in that the setting in Compatibility mode didn't carry over after the extraction of the files (it was an executable zip file, but wasn't in zip format) - that's when I stumbled upon the second "Run as Administrator" thing.
