At the bottom of each post, you'll see a button that looks like this, .
When you click that button it will change to a button, that looks like this, .
For every post you want to quote, click the button, changing it to the button.
When you have the ones you want to quote selected, click the button.
This will bring you to the page where you compose your replies to posts.
You'll see all the posts you selected for quoting, already entered.
Just delete the part of the post that you don't want to quote.
Add your replies underneath the quote you're replying to.
When done, click the button, unless you want to see what it looks like before posting, then click the button.

Be careful when deleting parts of the quoted text, to not delete the quote tags.

OK, if there is a post that has a bunch of nested quotes in it, and you want to reply to only the last, unquoted comment, is there a simple way to do that? In other words, is there a simple way to quote a post without dragging all of the other nested posts along?

When the post opens in the Reply box, just delete the quotes you don't need.

What does 'FastReply' do?
I thought it might cut out a few steps, but when I tried using it, my reply just vanished!
I did a search here for 'FastReply', but it came up with nothing.

"Fast Reply" should auto open on most threads you log on to. Just scroll to the bottom of the page.

There are some forums that you may not respond to otherwise, e.g., the HJT forum unless you are responding to a post that you started.

Otherwise, if you click on the Fast Reply it will close the already open input box.

Of course, you must also click on the "Add Reply" button also to set your post.

can you do multi quotes over several pages? Ie a topic thats like 2 pages long, can you multi quote contents of each page?

I just tried to do it in another topic and it seemed not to work. Its a 20 pages topic and I wanted to quote bits I find interesting / wanted to comment on offline, before responding to it in a whole.

Would be a bit of a pita having to click "reply" after each page, copying out the contents, click "back" and then repeat for the other 19 pages . I d do it though if no other way is available. Am after all the bleeping silly german .

-edit- just remembered that you have a limit on quotes anyway, so it wouldnt work in the first place . I ll need to link to the various replies then directly.

YH... the simple answer is no.

One must pull and select each item to quote.

I use the note pad to do such. Simple copy and paste.

I just figured out how to do it in the Create Digital Paintings Online thread.

I opened both pages in separate windows, selected the multi-quote posts, on the second page hit the "Add Reply" button, and voila! I don't know if it matters which page you use for making the reply, but the second one seemed to make sense to me. Obviously this method will still have the limitations you mentioned, but it's quick and easy for a few quotes and a few pages.

BTW, what's the limit on the number of quotes in a post? And would nested quotes count as one or as individual quotes?
