It's not a common issue seen in Firefox 2.0,so why don't you try the standard diagnostics:

FWIW, I'm new to Firefox this week and just installed 2.0 today. Having no problems loading pictures. I belong to a rat terrier dog group where owners post lots of pics of their dogs all the time and I just went out and opened up numerous picture-laden threads (4-5 photos per post). Firefox 2.0 opened them up in the blink of an eye. I'm on a Win XP machine with 512 MB ram and my signature indicates what's running realtime. Maybe you have a lot of programs killing your available ram? This would surely do what you are describing.

Well Firefox can load pictures in general just fine, but I have problems loading mass pictures on a screen, such as a Google Images search.

Graphics intensive pages do often take some time to load, no matter which browser you are using; this can be as much a function of your internet connexion or the site's server usage as anything else.
