I'm new to this forum, but am so far delighted with it's "Vibe" so far.
I know just enough about computers to be scary w00t.gif and have a...

Gateway Desktop
Windows XP Media Center Edition w/ a gigillion gigs
IE6

O.K...When web surfing, occassionally, while at a site, providing a link
(most often to another site, but not always. Every search site does this) I
come across a situation where I "left clink" as normal, on the link, the
window opens normally, and then suddenly closes! I've tried turning every
security system (which isn't good) that I am aware is installed on this
computer and this still happens. I've discovered through trial and error
first that if I "right click" on these links and select "open in new window",
these links open normally and second, that if I right click, as before and
hit just "open" that the same sudden closing of the window occurs as well!

There are never any warning or error message, it just shuts down! I'm pretty
sure this has been happening since I got this 'puter in June, though I'm not
sure.

Until now, I managed this way around it, or simply skipped the links I
couldn't get to, This "wall" for me was typically because "right clicking"
was disabled on that particular site.

I have now come across this situation at a site where it's VERY important to
me that I be able to enter these links, and of course, these are internal
site links, so I cannot go to a linked URL on my own.

Up until now, when I have run into a computer problem, I have always found
others with the same problem. And, subsequently, been able to fix it, but not
this time so I'm quite concerned & Greatly Hope Someone will have an answer!

Again this is quite important. So, I Thank you in advance!
Gratefully Your's, Sue

See if any thing here helps:
IE closes after clicking ANY link

Thanks for your help, Though, The first link on that page takes you to a "page that no longer exists, and the others address what to do if "right click" "open in new window" isn't working. I'm hesitant to mess with this as it is working fine, and at this point is my only way of following these links. I have already run several spyware/virus removal to no avail, and as I mentioned I'm pretty sure its always done this, so Gatway would have had to put the "bug" there! I need to follow links at sites where "right click" has been disabled!
P.S FYI The link you gave me shut down when I "left clicked", yet. I had no problem with "right click" "open in new window" as described in my initial post.
I really need to get into this site, and it's administrator doesn't know what to do and cerytainly isn't gonna remove the security they have in place just to suit MY wierd situation!!! dry.gif
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you again! Sue
