http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/home/up...ng/default.mspxEven though the published minimum requirement for Ram is far lower, XP will not run well with less than 512mb Ram. If everything else checks out ok do yourself a favor and update your Ram to at least 512mb.
Formating your hard drive and doing a fresh installation of XP is far better than using an upgrade installation, and format in NTFS because XP will operate much better and have more security features using NTFS instead of FAT32.
